In a few days, it will be ONE year since I got married. I just cannot believe it. Time just flew. It feels like yesterday that we got married and it is already one year! We started out with living in two different cities and now finally settled in a good apartment and spent $$$ on getting the house furnished according to our whims. It feels like “home” now :)

But for us, the day we first met or went out or even got engaged was more important when compared to the day we got married. Seriously, marriage is overrated. I know it is a special day but probably the day you realize you like a person, they have already entered your life. Marriage is just like a seal of approval from everyone. People usually give everything for contract these days. But my mom wanted to do everything herself, because it was the only marriage she had the chance to execute. It was fun to go shopping with mom :)

3 months of shopping tired me enough and then I don’t know why they keep so many ceremonies on your marriage day. My marriage day was the most tiresome day in my life for sure. You think everything is over after dinner and then they start another custom and make you fall to the feet of every other elder. I think I took 2 months to recover from marriage stress. People were asking me for pics and I just wanted to sleep and relax. But it is the only day in your life when people actually give you some attention. You are the center of attraction and everyone who is in the marriage hall is there because of you. I don’t think we would ever get a chance to be everybody’s attention again.

This year we did lot of travelling, but only to nearby places. I always thought a person would not change easily but I think love can change any person. I cry at the drop of a hat and get disturbed or upset for very small incidents which most of the people wont care for. Now hubby knows how to handle me in such situations. He knows how to make me laugh even when I am upset or sad. I think this one year helped us understand and learn each other’s positives and negatives. Ours was arranged and hence we never had a chance to know each other until we got engaged. I always had the notion that arranged marriages are bad. I could not be more wrong. And as long as you both love each other, you automatically end up comprising or adjusting. You cannot find a person who is an exact replica of you. And I guess finding such a person would in fact make your life boring. It is good to have some common interests but not have all interests in common.

Whether it is love or arranged, as long as you end up with someone good, it does not matter. I always wanted a geek like me and I ended up getting one. I wanted someone who was more interested in studying or learning, instead of going to parties and ended up with one. I did not want someone who had 1000 friends on Facebook but someone who had enough knowledge to tell me interesting facts that I did not know. So yes, I got the kind that I wanted, even if it was arranged. I got someone who could finish my office work too within no time, along with his own :P hehe

Also my blog recently celebrated its 6th anniversary. And wordpress actually congratulated me for this achievement (on Jan 16th I think). This was the first time I heard something like this from them.

And my 2012 report which was pending:

The stats helper monkeys prepared a 2012 annual report for this blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

4,329 films were submitted to the 2012 Cannes Film Festival. This blog had 29,000 views in 2012. If each view were a film, this blog would power 7 Film Festivals
